About my practice
Dr. Caballes is currently in practice as a non-surgical sports medicine physician at Orthopedic Centers of Colorado (Superior and Westminster locations).
Originally from the Chicago-land area, he attended medical school at the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in New York City. He completed residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at New York University (NYU) Medical Center where he also served as Chief Resident. During residency, he was the recipient of several awards, including the Howard Rusk Award for Teaching and Leadership.
Following residency, he completed an ACGME-accredited PM&R Sports Medicine Fellowship at NYU, where he received specialized training for endurance athletes and performing artists at the NYU Center for Musculoskeletal Care Running Performance Lab and The Juilliard School and Harkness Center for Dance Injuries.
Clinical interests include diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal ultrasound, platelet-rich plasma injections, and extracorporeal shockwave therapy. He is a core faculty instructor for the St. Anthony’s North Sports Medicine fellowship in Colorado and has served as an instructor for the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine ultrasound curriculum.
He has expertise in running and triathlon-related injuries and has been featured in Runner’s World as well as several running-related podcasts. He has served as a volunteer physician at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. In his practice, he has also treated dozens of Olympic athletes from around the world (including Gold / Silver / Bronze medalists), World Marathon Major champions, Ironman champions, NCAA track and field champions, Olympic Trials qualifiers, and numerous professional and elite athletes. As a fan of the sport, he also co-hosted the Ready to Run Podcast and completed several marathons including Chicago, New York City, and Berlin.
His clinical repertoire of treatments focuses on continually balancing the patient's physical goals with optimal recovery needs using a multifaceted approach to health aimed at preventing injury, maximizing performance, and achieving functional and sports-related goals.
